The Invisalign system consists of a series of clear, removable aligners that straighten teeth gradually. Unlike braces, the aligners are smooth and comfortable, with no metal parts or wires. They are also virtually invisible when worn.
You will wear your aligners throughout the day, removing them only to eat, drink, brush, and floss. As you replace each aligner with the next in the series, your teeth will move – little by little, week by week – until they have straightened to the final position our dentist has prescribed. The entire treatment typically takes around a year to complete but will vary from case to case.
One of the biggest advantages of choosing Invisalign is that the aligners are virtually invisible. Invisalign aligners are made from a clear plastic material that’s custom-made to fit your teeth. Most people won’t even be able to tell you’re wearing them!
Braces use brackets and metal wires that can stain your enamel over time. Brushing and flossing can often be more difficult with braces. With Invisalign, you can remove the aligners whenever you eat or brush your teeth so that the cleaning process is more straightforward than it would be with metal braces.
Another benefit of Invisalign is that the aligners are removable. Metal braces can only be removed by a professional, but Invisalign gives you the ability to remove the aligners yourself for up to two hours a day. That means you can take them out to eat your favorite foods and clean your teeth more thoroughly than you could with braces.
Since Invisalign uses a series of discreet, clear aligners rather than large metal brackets and wires, they’re more comfortable than traditional braces. They’re also easier to adjust to because they’re custom-fit to your mouth.
The length of treatment will vary for each patient, but the average case lasts about a year. After your initial consultation and after diagnostic records are taken, our dentist will create a treatment plan that is unique to your smile’s needs.
If you keep up with your aligners and wear them about 20-22 hours a day, you should only need to visit our office once every four to six weeks. However, if your teeth start to shift out of alignment during treatment, you may need to come in for more frequent check-ups to help make adjustments to your aligners to keep your treatment on track.
The cost of your treatment will depend on the complexity of your case and the length of your treatment plan. During your first visit, our dentist will perform a complete exam to determine the extent of misalignment and create a customized treatment plan for you.
Once a treatment plan has been created, we will be able to provide you with the cost of your treatment and an estimated length of your treatment process. We can also talk with you about payment options and insurance benefits that may be available to you through our office.
